Getting here from Carlton
About fifteen minutes by car, north-west via Royal Parade and Brunswick Road. By public transport, the 19 tram along Sydney Road and the 58 along Melville Road both serve Brunswick West, the 58 stops at stop 35, on the corner of Victoria Street.
The clinic is at 66 Melville Road, with street parking out front and the opposite side of the road unrestricted at any hour, which is a meaningful difference coming from Carlton.
What Carlton patients come in with
Study load. Carlton’s student population produces a very consistent presentation: long hours at a laptop, often at a desk that was never set up for it, showing up as neck pain, upper back tension and headaches with a neck component.
Hospitality. The Lygon Street restaurant strip means standing shifts, carrying, and repeated turning, lower back and shoulder presentations, frequently in people who are on their feet for ten hours at a time.
Healthcare shift work. Proximity to the hospital precinct brings shift workers whose presentations are shaped as much by sleep disruption and long standing as by any single incident.
Cycling and running. Princes Park and the Capital City Trail carry a lot of both, with the usual load-related knee and hip presentations.
Your first appointment
About 30 minutes and mostly assessment: history, physical examination, orthopaedic and neurological screen, and a plain explanation of what was found before anything else happens.
An initial consultation is $125, item code 1002, and a standard consultation $78. HICAPS is on site. See the fees page for the full schedule.
