Getting here from Essendon
The clinic is at 66 Melville Road, Brunswick West, a straight run down Mount Alexander Road and then east, about ten minutes by car outside peak.
Without a car, tram route 59 runs the length of Mount Alexander Road, and Essendon Station on the Craigieburn line heads toward the city with connections across to Brunswick West.
What Essendon patients come in with
Essendon is an active suburb with a lot of older housing, and both show up in what comes through the door.
Sport and training load. Runners and cyclists on the Maribyrnong River trail and the Moonee Ponds Creek path, and the club football and netball that runs year-round around Windy Hill and Aberfeldie Park. That produces knee, hip and calf and Achilles-related presentations, usually after a jump in training volume.
Heritage housing upkeep. Essendon’s Victorian, Federation and interwar homes take constant maintenance, and a weekend of ladder work, painting or garden clearing is a common precursor to a lower back or shoulder presentation.
Commuting and desk load. Long drives, long train trips and long days seated produce the neck pain and headache patterns that make up a large share of appointments.
Your first appointment
About 30 minutes: a full history, a physical assessment covering posture, movement and muscle and joint testing, an orthopaedic and neurological screen, and an explanation of what was found before any treatment happens.
Three chiropractors practise here and each publishes their AHPRA registration number. An initial consultation is $125 and a standard consultation $78, every fee and item code is on the fees page, and HICAPS is on site so private health rebates are claimed at the desk.
