Getting here from Parkville

About ten minutes by car north-west via Royal Parade and Brunswick Road. Tram route 19 runs along Royal Parade and connects to the route 58 at Brunswick West, which runs along Melville Road to stop 35, on the corner of Victoria Street.

Royal Park Station on the Upfield line is also close to the precinct.

What Parkville patients come in with

Healthcare shift work. The Royal Melbourne Hospital and the surrounding medical precinct produce a very particular presentation: long standing shifts, patient handling, disrupted sleep, and rotating rosters that make consistent appointment times hard. Most commonly lower back, neck and shoulder presentations.

Patient handling injuries, which are frequently WorkSafe claims and need a claim number and referral in place before the appointment.

Study and research load. The university precinct brings long hours at a desk and the neck and posture presentations that go with them.

Running. Royal Park carries a lot of it, with the usual load-related knee and heel presentations.

Your first appointment

About 30 minutes, and mostly assessment: a full history, a physical assessment covering posture, movement and muscle and joint testing, an orthopaedic and neurological screen, and an explanation of what was found before any treatment happens.

Three chiropractors practise here, each publishing their AHPRA registration number. An initial consultation is $125 and a standard consultation $78, every fee and item code is on the fees page, and HICAPS is on site so private health rebates are claimed at the desk.

Frequently asked questions

How do I get here from Parkville?

About ten minutes by car north-west via Royal Parade and Brunswick Road. Tram route 19 runs along Royal Parade and connects to the 58 at Brunswick West, which runs along Melville Road to stop 35.

Do you have appointments that suit shift work?

The clinic opens at 8:45am six days a week and runs to 7:00pm on weeknights and 4:00pm on Saturday. That covers most rotating patterns without needing to give up a sleep block.

Can I be seen for something work-related?

Yes. Where it is a WorkSafe claim, get a claim number and the referral your scheme requires in place before the appointment, treatment given beforehand is generally billed to you rather than the insurer.
