More Information

A peak at the high end focuses the stretch across two to four vertebrae of the mid back, and it gives slightly so you can settle onto it, over a firm base. It's the step up from the Thoracic Retrainer.

Who it's for

The Thoracic Denneroll is designed for an increased rounding of the upper back, the thoracic kyphosis, along with the forward head posture and rounded shoulders that often come with it.

It can sit at the upper, mid or lower thoracic spine, and your chiropractor decides which from a posture assessment and, where needed, X-rays.

How a session works

  • Use it on the floor or a firm bench. A bed or a thick, spongy yoga mat is too soft for the stretch to work.
  • Place it behind you, lower yourself onto it and set the peak where your chiropractor showed you, then relax over it and let your body weight do the stretching.
  • Keep your legs flat for the most effect. A pillow or folded towel under your head is fine if you need one.
  • If it feels too strong, lay a folded towel or foam pad over the top.
  • Start at 3 minutes and add about a minute each session, building to 15–20 minutes by around the 17th session. If you can't reach a session's time, stay at it until you can.
  • To get up, roll onto your side, remove the device and settle for a moment first.
  • How often you use it, per day or per week, is set by your chiropractor.

Thoracic Denneroll or Thoracic Retrainer?

The peak gives the most localised and strongest stretch Denneroll make for the mid back. The Thoracic Retrainer is lower and flat-topped, a gentler introduction, and people usually move to this one once they're comfortable on the Retrainer.
